Weber River Fishing Report
Flows on the Middle Weber near Wanship have dropped. They are currently sitting around 26 CFS. This may seem low, but can be a pretty normal flow for this time of year. Most of the fish will be stacked up in the deeper runs and pools. We have found most of the recent success with small Baetis patterns and Sow bugs. You can also never go wrong nymphing with small midges. Bling midges in black and grey always work well. The streamer fishing is finally hot! Early in the morning, or later in the afternoon have been the best times. We are finding they will eat one color and then turn off of that particular color fairly quick so be sure to carry a variety. This time of year be mindful as you are wading the river. The fish are staging to spawn. Watch your step as to avoid accidentally stepping on any Redds.
Lower Weber Fishing Report
Current flows have now dropped to 2 CFS. This is normal for this time of year. You will want to avoid fishing closer to the Echo dam. The water is not moving in that area and it is harmful to the fish. If you are going to fish this lower section you’ll want to stay further down the canyon towards Taggarts. Just be responsible and use your best judgment. The fish will be spawning soon so use care while wading as to avoid any Redds. There are still a lot of baetis hatching which can provide great dry fly opportunities if you time it right. The fish are happily eating streamers. Any pattern works. Try to stay in the 2″-3″ range. Our best colors have been olive or white.
